1-10) Leos Janácek: On an Overgrown Path (arr. Stefan Heucke)
11-18) Stefan Heucke: Heimat. Seven Sketches and an Epilogue for
accordion and piano
Stefan Heucke’s cycle “Heimat” op.49 was developed in 2006/07 commissioned by the GWK Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Westfälischen Kulturarbeit for the duo Tobias Bredohl, piano and Marko Kassl, accordion.
The concept directly derived from the composer’s work with Leos Janácek’s piano cycle “On an Overgrown Path”, which he also arranged for the combination of accordion and piano. The idea of dealing with the topic “Homeland” in musical dimensions has been in Heucke’s mind for a long time. Now with the connection to the Janácek cycle, the final arrangement of the topic became almost mandatory because Leos Janácek himself traces the “overgrown paths” of childhood, youth and homeland.
This program-CD includes the world premiere recordings of both cycles.
The sheet music to both pieces is published by Augemus Musikverlag.
